Summary/Abstract: Undoubtedly the investigation of the Old Slavic literary heritage is keeping a little bit abreast with the advance of the studies on the Byzantine and Western medieval languages and literatures. Many reasons for this situation can be listed here. One of the most important of them is the fact that the scholars in the field are continuing to specify the corpus of texts of medieval Slavic literatures. The lack of an entire repertorium of both original and translated texts diffused in the Slavic milieu is still impeding the comprehensive and relevant overviews on the Slavic literary tradition. This task seems to be in the process of resolving by the application of computer programs, and in our case of the Template for Slavic Manuscripts (henceforth TSM), based on the principles of SGML and designed for complete description of the medieval manuscripts. In 1994 an international project concentrated on the preparation of a database of the Slavic manuscripts was initiated. The description of the contents of a given manuscript together with the encoded texts (as a portion or the whole of it) could be automatically juxtaposed with the similar items in the program.
