Summary/Abstract: The more you get acquainted with the writings of Nicolae Colan, especially through extensive reading, the more certain your conclusion: these writings belong to the so called “frontier literature”. Irrespective of the actual subject and the explicit or implicit purpose of these writings, most of them show tremendous objectivity combined with extreme subjectivity of an author who fi lters every aspect of reality through his own sensitivity, explanation and analysis. Many of these feature aspects of reality that the author comments on, praises or disputes, by using a persuasive discourse specifi c to journalistic style, yet wrapped up in subjectivity, while the author transfers his own sensibility into the text by means of language and artistic images. Nicolae Colan told stories, made portraits and described with passion and enthusiasm church and historical events and personalities, presenting all these from a different and more human perspective, using literary language as opposed to the usual dry language of history books.
