Summary/Abstract: Understanding local history is a must for any student, not only as an integral part of the general education and upbringing, but also as a condition to realize his rights and fulfill his obligations as a subject in a certain social environment. This means that local history should be not only a compulsory part of education, but at the same time part of human life. This topic includes sufficient explanations why it should be studied as a part of a history. It will help to stimulate student’s interest in studying the history and learning about his closest environment. The study of this history provides the student knowledge, skills, opportunity for dialogue, discussion, communication and formation of ethical and moral norms. This means that the local history should fit into national and general history in its time, space and meaning.
