Possibilities of using new institutional economics in public sector development

Summary/Abstract: The study attempts to use the so-called „the new institutional economics” to scratch prospects of the public sector. In the new institutional economics, the fundamental importance is attached to the institutions, both formal and informal. The quality of these institutions and their bilateral relationships may affect the reduction of transaction costs and contribute to the improvement of public sector effectiveness.
