Summary/Abstract: The study targets the concepts of interculturality and multiculturalism in Timiş county and the practical ways of highlighting them. One cannot speak of aggression from the "natives" in Banat, as Romanians, Serbians, Hungarians, Germans, Bulgarians, Slovaks, Czechs, Jews, Ukrainians, Croatians, Polish, Italians, Roma and other ethnic groups live in harmony. Communication between minorities in Banat and Timiş, in particular, has always been excellent, with multilingualism as support. For example, Germans, who represent a large community in Timiş county use Romanian and Hungarian along with their mother tongue (the same as the Hungarians, Serbians, Roma and more recently the Italians do). Serbians and Bulgarians are also bilingual, Romanian being the second language used in their family. The use of two, or even three or four languages in Banat is something rarely seen in other parts of Europe. In this case, multilingualism needs to be definitely perceived as closeness between people. Multiculturalism in Banat is a complex phenomenon, therefore this study will only refer to how it is highlighted through theatre and dance. We will bring into discussion the "Festival of Ethnic Groups" as the essence of Banat multiculturalism, but also high school theatres or theaters in 3 languages in Timisoara.
