Summary/Abstract: International standards for classifying and listing of archival materials are applicable (functional) for archival profession in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Experience of archivists in the Archives of Tuzla Canton clearly confirm this statement.Selective approach to the application of these international standards stipulates a number of factors related to the lack of uniform legal archival legislation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a certain conservatism of the profession in terms of satisfying the usual means of professional work, fear of change, understanding of international standards solely as something designed for informational structures, etc. Where these benefits may be less significant application of international standards, in whole or in part, is significantly higher. The pragmatic reasons are absolutely consistent with application of international standards, with due respect for specifics that come to the fore as a result of fragmentary archival holdings.
