Rationality in pension decisions. Some theoretical considerations

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the paper is to point and to characterize factors negatively influencing the rationality of pension decisions. It results in the microeconomic efficiency of pension system defined as a tool of income allocation in the lifecycle. The pension system and its microeconomic efficiency have been defined in the paper. Then pension decisions and their rationality as well as the potential reasons for the irrationality of these decisions have been characterized. The considerations included in the paper have been based on the literature review in pension and behavioral economics as well as on author’s opinion.
