Summary/Abstract: The primary research objective of this article was to establish the degree to which the Copenhagen criteria have been implemented in the structural solutions of the Republic of Serbia. The rules were defined by the European Council in 1993 and were intended for the candidate countries who were eligible to become member states of the European Union. It has been confirmed that in many fields Serbia is not fully prepared for obtaining the status of a full member of the EU, which stems from the fact that they still do not fully meet the requirements included in the Copenhagen criteria. However, the opinion of the European Union Parliament, in its resolution of 18 April 2013, should also be noted, which states that the legislative body is optimistic, as reflected in the following statement: “launching the negotiation talks to join the EU of June 2013, is an objective, which is possible to be achieved and calls the country for continuing the democratic, system, social and economic reforms, which will enable the effective fulfilment of your obligations resulting from the membership.”
