A Project Management approach to Crowdsourcing in Virtual Learning Communities

Summary/Abstract: An approach to crowdsourcing the development of content packages to the members of virtual learning community is presented. The approach is based on some common practices and concepts of the project management described in frameworks like PMI® PMBOK® and SWEBOK along with practices in ITIL. It is designed to give flexibility and freedom to community members to elaborate and implement their ideas in the topic domain of the virtual community. This is achieved through discretizing community ideas in separate projects and providing coordination, technical, technological and management assistance along with software development resources, where these are needed.
