Summary/Abstract: The place names, as binders between human beings and their places of birth, reveal inner states, subjective interpretations and observations etc. which help rewrite the history of a community, step by step. The biplane character of the metaphor - denominative and connotative Ŕ turns it into a figure of speech often used both in the current language and in the specialized one. The aim of this trope is to substitute the lack of some precise terms meant to describe, as exactly as possible, the surrounding geographic realities. The subject Metaphor in Toponymy was debated and sometimes improper explained, generating a series of debates along the time. This work aims to analyse the place names which are based on appellatives that come from metaphors derived from anatomic terms. Such toponyms are numerous in the area where the beautiful Bistra and Sebeș Valleys are located and describe mainly the position towards the sun, towards certain points of reference, towards other toponyms or towards the ownerřs house, being created by comparing the geographic objects with the ones having as starting point the terms referring to the anatomic parts of the human body.
