Summary/Abstract: In the second half of the nineteenth century, through his work, Mihail Kogalniceanu became a name in the history of Romanian culture. Politician, historian, writer and publicist, Kogalniceanu contributed equally to the crystallization of the 1948 ideology, unity and unification of the Romanian language, the promotion of democratic rule after the Union of principalities. He talked about the Latin origin of our language and claimed Romanian lexicography development, stressed the role of literary Romanian language and literature artistic development. He showed an interest in enriching the vocabulary through neologisms and unifying the spelling systems, fought against foreign literature, urging Romanian writers to draw inspiration from the glorious past of the people, the traditionsand the chroniclersř works.
