Summary/Abstract: The notion of tolerance relation is designed to formalize the idea of similarity. In the paper we present in short how the notion is used in mathematics, especially for investigating mathematical structures. Some linguistic applications are also mentioned. Pojęcie tolerancji jest naturalnym uogólnieniem pojęcia relacji równoważności i ma na celu pewn formalizacj idei podobiestwa. W pracy omawiamy pokrótce pewne ważne zastosowania relacji tolerancji, głównie związane z matematyką i lingwistyką.
