Summary/Abstract: The goal of this paper is an excursion into the theme of the novel "L'huile sur le feu", still untranslated into Romanian. The main focus of my paper is the parents-daughter relationship, a difficult relationship from many points of view. Celine, the character who narrates the story, is in distress due to her parentsř separation. The style of the narration constructs a novel that evokes fear, separation, connivance and confession. Metaphorically said Celine is the fruit of two entirely different species of trees to the extent that she embarks on a journey of finding her own self
