Summary/Abstract: The biography of the contemporary Austrian writer Friedericke Mayröcker is woven in her whole oeuvre. Thus her poems trace stations of her existence and the prose marks deep remembrances, mingeled with daily ebvents. Specific for the writing technique is the „collage“, namely the intermingling of the so called „tabu“ papers – notes, letters, quotations, books, etc. Ideas and dreams, associations and sentiments are transformed in literary compositions describing metaphoric landscapes. A central topos represents Vienna, which the Mayröcker considers to be a „city of writing“/“Schreibstadt“ where she feels being at home especially due to the German language – language being her home.
