Summary/Abstract: This paper discusses the archival worker in general, about his role and importance in the archival theory and practice. Based on these contributions, paper shows the current situation, certain disadvantages and problems of professional staff in the archives of the Republic of Serbia. Through the date statements, comments, conclusions and proposals, is only the author's attempt to overcome a number of problems in personnel policy archives and in a satisfactory way to settle. Professional staff trained and creative, are still the basis of everything and without their permanent education and continuous monitoring of innovations and other developments, we will not be able to properly respond to the task. This will arm archival service with knowledge and so it will be able to critically examine their failures, but also to defend with arguments of truth the reputation of their profession.
