Summary/Abstract: This paper deals with two of the storytelling genres identified by Suzanne Eggins and Diana Slade: narrative and anecdote. These are analysed in Mihail Sadoveanuřs novel ŖNopțile de Sânzieneŗ, pointing out the similarities and the differences between their structure and the significance of each stage of the narrative and of the anecdote. We focus our attention also on the relationship between the participants and on the presence, in the literary text, of different phenomena specific for the current conversation (e.g. interruptions, corrections).
