Summary/Abstract: This paper analyses some specific aspects of the functioning of criticism, as expressive speech act, in a literary text, Gabriela Adameșteanuřs novel ŖDimineață pierdutăŗ. Our aim is to illustrate the role of this subclass of speech act in the relational system established between the characters. We focus our attention on the circumstances in which the selected act is used, the addressee, the object of the act (the addresseeřs specific or abstract, moral or physical attributes) and the value (intrinsic positive or attributed by the locutor) of the elements that mark the illocutionary force.
