Summary/Abstract: The article presents some collateral, implicit aspects which exist inside the communication act, precisely referring to linguistic manipulation techniques, by revealing its persuation purposes, the inherent psychological implications, techniques currently used in votes touting, in commercial advertising as well as in every day oral communication. We will review different types of communication: cooperative, competitive, aggressive communication. The purpose of votes touting is to persuade, to ultimately influence the electorsř behaviour and to make them fulfill an act, an action: voting a certain political party or a certain political candidate. Communicative behaviour such as: lies, flattery, hypocrisy are meant to determine the electors to share certain common ideas in the elections campaign. The phenomenon of manipulating electors is explicit in the persuation mechanism; but it is implicit in the political vote touting, in masking the real intentions. In the latter part of the article, we analyse some recent elections manifestoes (2001-2014), used in elections campaigns in Italy or Romania, in order to illustrate the way language and image become strategic instruments to control the electors by the way they act upon the electorsř emotions and how votes touting becomes, practically, political marketing.
