Summary/Abstract: The text is devoted to penetration of the elements of literary and cultural achievements of the Southern Slavdom to the areas of former Poland and Lithuania. Church Slavonic ma¬nuscripts and old prints, stored in the Polish libraries and museums, were used for partial excerption and discussion of the material referring to the selected plots connected to St. Cyril and Methodius, as well as contacts of the Russian Orthodox Church with Mount Athos (and further with the Holy Land) and the Balkans in the area of hagiology, canon law and liturgical tradition. The relics of literature testify to ideological and textual interference of Southern Slavic and Byzantine cultural heritage in the eastern lands of the former Republic of Poland, which subsequently constituted one of the elements for construction of an autonomous mo¬del of the culture of the Russian Orthodox Church.
