Summary/Abstract: Ioan Alexandru sets out to create a type of poetry which is meant to illustrate the mystic relation between the human being and god. As reflected in the works of Dionysius the Areopagite, Dumitru Stăniloae or Michelina Tenace, the human being searches the direct connection with god trough prayer and contemplation. The connection is made through enstasis (the isolation of the person in order to descend into the inner self and meet god in that complete solitude) followed by ex-tasis (a form of enthusiasm reflected in the joy of being able to have direct access to the divine grace). The poetic work of Ioan Alexandru reflects this mystic model as his texts depict a spiritual journey of the self beginning in the immediate reality, continuing with the passage through the inferno followed by the isolation in the desert and, finally, the expression of pure joy in the last books.
