Summary/Abstract: Constanța Buzea makes use of the suffering in her life transforming it into a source of constant inspiration for her poems. In this respect, the Romanian poet can be linked to the Mexican painter, Frida Kahlo. Transgressing pain turns into an art form and the refuse to become dramatic or to live without dignity leads to an attentive and lucid observation of the diverse nuances suffering can have. The angels are mere images of the torn self or terms of comparison for the feelings depicted in the poems. Some of the hypostases of the angel in Constanța Buzea’s works include: guardians of the elements in nature, superior stages of development in the human becoming, doubles of their human counterpart, representation of the torn ego, sweet talk from a cheating husband, suggestions of happier times, announcers of pain and death, enlightened part of the self, opposite of the demonic, voices of the inner pain, symbols of the freedom of the soul, images of the reconciliation with one’s self.
