Summary/Abstract: The concept of the “post-Soviet space” is becoming obsolete. Now is the time to fully abandon this terminology if we truly want to understand the processes that are currently taking place in the territories between Europe and China, India and the Middle East. In its place, we need to accept a new Eurasian paradigm that would recognise the post-Soviet space as a central part of Eurasia, as well as the fact that the borders between the former Soviet Union states and its neighbouring regions are becoming blurred. The consequences of this Copernican turnover will include a greater understanding of China as the main player in this region.
