Summary/Abstract: The city of Lviv is often perceived as a gateway to the West for Ukraine, alongside being proof of Ukraine’s European heritage. However, the city’s history as the intersection of key trade routes between Central Europe and Central Asia and the Middle East demonstrates its multi-cultural heritage which reaches far beyond that perception. Lviv is not only a European city; it is to a certain degree an Oriental one as well.
