Constantine Kostenečki's Concept of the Syllabe

Summary/Abstract: he article explores the use and the meaning of the original terms господьствоующаа and покорительнаа used by Constantine Kostenečki in his famous Сказаниѥ изьявленно о писменхь. It seems that these terms could have been created and introduced only in accordance with an open syllabic structure. This structure was dominant in the 14th and 15th centuries, and Constantine Kostenečki abandoned deliberately the Greek terms φωνήεντα (гласнаа) and σύμφονα (съгласна) in order to make an exact Slavic terminology.
