Summary/Abstract: An attempt has been made to elucidate the presence of the East Frankish saint and confessor Arnulf in the Banica Gospel and Apostolos No 882 in the Cyril and Methodius National Library – 13th Century Monuments. The thesis is put forward that its penetration was connected with the stay of St. Methodius at the monastery of Reichenau in 870-873. The possibility of the identification of St. Arnulf with King Arnulf of Bavaria (887–899) is rejected, irrespective of the existence of political contacts between him and Prince Vladimir Rasate. Information from South German calendars of the 9th–11th с. is appended, as well as the text of a hitherto unpublished letter from the margrave of the Eastern Mark Aribo to the Emperor Arnulf of 894.
