Summary/Abstract: The opinions expressed so far on the presence of a Cyrillo-Methodian tradition on the territory of present Hungary are examined in the article. The question of the time of the construction of the church of “St. Clement” in the settlement of Balatonlelle, and the problem of determining the time of the emergence of the worship of St. Clement in Pannonia are discussed. The author sets forth some considerations supporting the hypothesis according to which the church in Balatonlelle was built in the 70s of the 9th с. at the time of the missionary work of St. Methodius among the Pannonian Slavs. He adduces historical data which permit the assumption that a Slav population lived around Balatonlelle in the second half of the 9th с.
