Summary/Abstract: The present analysis is a study of the hagiographie texts of Slavia Orthodoxa (predominantly originating in the Balkan area) from the viewpoint of their discursive characteristics. Hagiography is understood here in its broadest scope: as a corpus of writings about saints. Besides narrative texts that are traditionally designated as hagiography in the narrow sense of the term, this corpus includes also saint's encomia and various hymnographic texts about saints. This textual material of diverse generic origin is united not only by its common subject-matter but most of all by the invariable concept of sainthood that is communicated through them to the audience of Christian believers.
