THE MIGRANT CRISIS – THE GREAT CHALLENGE OF THE EUROPEAN UNION

Summary/Abstract: The refugees’ crisis puts pressure on the whole European system. The means of managing this crisis will influence the further evolution of the European Union. The entire treaty system of the EU, referring to asylum seekers and refugees, had to be transformed and upgraded in order to face the dimension of the 2015 phenomenon. EU’s interstate internal solidarity was severely challenged and the future configurations of the refugees’ crisis still ask for enormous efforts on behalf of the European Union institutions.
