Role of Lef Nosi’s in the spread of the culture and Albanian EDUCATION

Summary/Abstract: Lef Nosi is one of the prominent patriots of the Albanian National Movement. Inspired by the patriotic feelings of the Albanians and illuminated by the progressive ideas of the Renaissance, Lef Nosi conducted a long and intensive political, educational and cultural activity in support of the Albanian cause. The endeavors of Lef Nosi for the opening of Albanian schools were one aspect of his struggle for the Albanian national freedom. His struggle for national unity went along his work for the publication of textbooks in Albanian and the use of Latin alphabet in writing Albanian as a means to unify the Albanian culture and school. This article sheds light on an important part of Lef Nosi’s activity related to the gathering of documentary materials in the field of Albanian studies. Most of these documents are not published. Furthermore, he was a devoted collector of historical documents, folkloric and ethnographic materials, as well as publications in the fiold of Albanian studies. He is well known as an archivist, folklorist, ethnographer, numismatist, archeologist, etc. The documents that are found in the Central Archive of the Republic of Albania, testify clearly for his genius in his activity as a researcher.
