Challenges and prospects of the development of Polish companies in terms of organization of the Championship European Football EURO 2012.

Summary/Abstract: The organization of mass sporting events always have a significant impact on the economic development of the country, which organizes it. It usually results growth of demand, competitiveness, but also impacts on the organizational culture of the region. Preparation of the event is often associated with the provision of appropriate technical, transport, and tourism infrastructure, which creates additional opportunities for businesses development. The purpose of this article is to analyze the opportunities and challenges that occurs for business after deciding to host the he UEFA European Football Championship - EURO 2012 and an attempt to evaluate the use that opportunity. This article analyzes the statistics on the number of economic entities operating in the period before the decision to host the championships until June 2012. It also drew attention to the development of the number of operators in the economy important sections and divisions, in the analyzed period. This allowed for the observation of trends in the number of operating entities, particularly in the departments and sections of the economy, associated directly or indirectly with the preparations for the great event of global importance. The article also analyzes the benefits and risks of Polish companies in the organization of the UEFA European Football Championship - EURO 2012.
