Summary/Abstract: The active participation to the divine praise opens to the faithful the possibility toenjoy the incarnation’s grace and to get to know Jesus Christ, giving this way a goodstart to the sanctification and transformation process of his life. The same divine worship,carried on in the silent presence of the icons teaches us to discern the beauty of thehuman face transfigured after the model of Christ’s face. The present study gives pointsto the icon’s importance within the liturgical worship with a view to mark out the transformationact which takes place in the faithful’s soul. Maintaining this way the balancebetween artistic expression and theological doctrine, the byzantine icon is liturgicaldiscovered in a hidden way and shows the religious human the path to deification.
