THE ICON AND THE CREATED WORLD: THE VISIBLE PARADIGM OF THE DIVINE REDEMPTION

Summary/Abstract: In our research we try to underline the importance of the icon in the orthodox theology. Also, our issue was concentrated in a cosmological direction, showing that all the created world is the icon of God. The last part of our study is a theological analysis about the iconological importance of the Mother of God, as Theotokos, in the divine paradigm of creation. Therefore, the grace of the Virgin fills us with joy, fills us with comfort and strengthens us. A Virgin-Mother who, for the common salvation of our kind, carries in her purest arms the Creator of all, lying like a child. A Virgin-Mother who has precisely the gaze of a virgin and a mother; that is, capable of dividing in a balanced way his attitudes towards both functions, without leaving either of them incomplete
