Summary/Abstract: This article focuses on the formation and grammatical meanings related to one of the compound verb forms of past tense of the indicative mood in the Albanian language, the past perfect tense (kisha pasë larë / kisha qenë larë). This verb forms are a special grammatical form, constituent parts of the verb system of the past tense of the indicative mood in the Albanian language. The past perfect tense is a special analytical grammatical form consisting of 2 (two) main members (the auxiliary verb of the past perfect + past participle of the principal verb). The grammatical signification of the past perfect tense implies a past action in the perfect aspect, which results into a verb action completed at a more distant moment in time for the past tense as compared to present perfect. The distance in time makes the difference between the past perfect tense (kisha pasë larë / kisha qenë larë) with the present perfect (kisha larë / qeshë larë). It is important to position the grammatical tense forms of the past perfect tense appropriately within the system of past tense verbs in the Albanian language.
