A Case-Driven Approach to Business Rules Extraction

Summary/Abstract: The paper describes an attempt to propose a feasible solution of a hard problem - business rules extraction from source code. The main challenges of the problem from a conceptual and managerial point of view have been analyzed. The essence of the comparative analysis method is presented to explain why it can be used as a decision support method through the whole process of business rules mining. A case study illustrates the situations in which the method can be successfully applied. Finally, the results obtained till now are summarized and some directions for future research and experimental work are shared.
