Summary/Abstract: The article shows the quantity, structure, position and activity of teachers of town parish and territorial schools in the town of Ivanovo-Voznesensk at the end of the 19th — the beginning of the 20th century. Shown are the examples of dedicated work of a provincial teachers and their role in the formation of elements of civil society.
