Summary/Abstract: This paper deals with systematization of the main approaches to definition of the concept “region”. On the base of the analysis of academic discourse the author differenciates the conceptual images of a region, problematizes the role of a region in the set of spatial relations and designates the theoretical background for the relevant definition of a region today.
