Summary/Abstract: The aim of the contribution draws attention to the importance of international standardization in tourism services with view to elimination of barriers for free movement of the tourism services, its importance for consumers – visitors in tourism, when the international standards encourage consumers responsibility, enforce their legitimate demands and expectations. They also strengthen the consumer status as a main protagonists in the tourism market. For developing countries the international standards of tourism services they are a tool, that enables them to prepare a competitive tourism products. Very important is also possible discussion concerning the relation between laws and norms at international and local levels.
