Summary/Abstract: Ms. No 508 contains a lectionary Acts and Epistels together with a leetionary Gospel on vellum, and is from the 13th century. The orthographic and linguistic features indicate a West Bulgarian origin. Except by confusion between ѫ and ѧ, the orthography is characterized in particular by confusion between ѧ and е, between ѫ and the jers, between и and ы. The letter ь is used to represent both jers. The lexicon of both the Acts and Epistels and the Gospel is archaic, containing variants that are considered characteristic of the Cyril and Methodius translation. The synaxarion includes listings for the Bulgarian saints Petka of Tarnovo (14 Oct.), John of Rila (19 Oct.), Cyril the Philosopher (14 Feb.), and Joachim of Sarandapor (16 Aug.). Frequently complete troparia are given for holidays and saints. A troparion from St. Cyril’s service is produced for St. Cyril which has interesting textological features in this copy.
