Summary/Abstract: The author reports, in the current article, the establishment and development of the Scientific Society of the Ortopaedic and Trauma Surgeons (SSOTS), which, per se., was founded by Prof. Boycho Boychev in 1956. On the grounds of the protocols and records, preserved by the author himself, all the most important activities and scientific sessions, with the active involvement and participation of Bulgarian ortopaedic and trauma surgeons, have periodically been arranged and reported. With thE support by the Union of scientific medical societies in Bulgaria, impressive scientific events, such as national assemblies with international attendance, international colloqua and conferences, have been organized. In this article, the great international acknowledgment of the acceptance, in 1993 of the Bulgarian Society of Ortopaedics and Traumatology as a member ofthe European Federation of National Associations of Ortopaedics and Traumatology (EFORT), is reported as well. Special attention is payed to the periodical release of the journal of the Bulgarian Society of Ortopaedics and Traumatology„ Ortopaedics and Traumatology“. In the current article, achievements of scientific value, by leading Bulgarian ortopaedic and trauma surgeons, have also been explored and reported. The improvements and changes in the regulations and in the name of the Bulgarian Society of Ortopaedic and Trauma Surgeons, which in 2012 were entered in the company section at Sofia City Court as „Bulgarian Ortopaedic and Trauma Association Boycho Boychev“, have also been reported and discussed in the current article.
