Summary/Abstract: Valuation of registry material presents very important aspect in successful protection of the material. Present diversity of legislations at all levels is not helpful in changing the situation. Overcoming current state of affairs must be done by regulating legislation. Establishing frame law that would treat question of preserving documentation would be optimal and best solution. At least, legislation should be analogus, and same deadlines for document keeping at all administration levels would produce wanted results. Another priority is regulating work with material in electronic form, archiving, protecting it, etc. Formation of expert comitee's at the level of archive service, that would deal with issues of material's deadlines, should be considered as a constant need and obligation of all archivists. These should deal with issues of material's valuation, that is with defining the term permanent material, especially accentuating the material with operational value or one that can be used as a proof over archival material that has scientific, historical, cultural, etc. component and as such should be viewed differently. Insisting on the expertise of maker's personnel also represents an important part in reviewing and resolving these issues.
