INCLUSION CREATORS AND OWNERS IN JURISDICTION OF ARCHIVES IN THE NATIONAL ARCHIVES INFORMATION SYSTEM - ARHINET

Summary/Abstract: By starting ARHiNET, web information system for describing, arranging and management of archival records, Croatian State Archives at the end of 2006 started the construction of national archival information system. Its implementation enabled integration of data and services in archives and in the same time users have access to all information on registered material and its creators and holders at one place. Gathering all data at one place, that is implementation of unique system of registering and arranging of archival material has resulted with major changes in the work of state archives and whole archival service. In November 2007, as one of the first results, the Register of archival fonds and collections of the Republic of Croatia, central national information resource on archival material which is integral part of ARHiNET system, was open to the public. It enables unique on-line access to data on archival records as well as to their digital reproductions. Further work on system realisation is focused on inclusion other owners of public and private records in ARHiNET system which will proceeds activities on integration and exchange of data between institution that create and keep archival material.
