Summary/Abstract: The article studies derived words with stems being in suppletive relations with the stem of the productive word. In the history of Russian word-formation, these cases are qualified as suppletive word-formation. This is substantiated by the categories of historical word-formation as well as by the facts of suppletive word-formation synonymy. At the same time, this paper presents a critical assessment of the synchronic view on suppletivism in word formation.
