Summary/Abstract: The article considers various expressions of individual style in the translations of the outstanding representative of the Graecophile movement – Epiphany Slavinetsky. His translation of “Theology” by John of Damascus is taken as an example. The purpose of the research is to reveal a still unstudied aspect of the work of Graecophiles, which represents a realization of their ideologically based understanding of accuracy in rendering a Greek text. The article also deals with a number of special issues on the history of literary language in general and Epiphany’s translation techniques in particular.
