Summary/Abstract: The personality of the first metropolitan of Moldavia, Joseph, was often in the attention of historians, who have tried to give a clearer picture on the life and on cultural achievements of this hierarch. However, there remain many controversial aspects from the biography of Joseph I, one of these regarding the place where he was buried. Thus, historians have proposed no fewer than four possible places where he could prepare the tomb this metropolitan of Moldavia (Monasteries Neamţ, Bistriţa, Boişte and church Mirăuţi from Suceava). Appealing to documents of chancellery from the first half of the XVth century, the author of this lines believe that Joseph was buried in the church of Neamţ Monastery, bringing new arguments in this regard. The documents analysed and viewed in a unified perspective converge to this conclusion.
