Summary/Abstract: The proper assessment of the social impact of floods and the way population perceives the associated risks would contribute to an increased public awareness of ecologic or other types of crises. The increase in frequency and intensity of risk phenomena worldwide during the last period urges public institutions to consider risk perception and danger awareness level within potential affected communities as strategic necessities, especially in the case of floods. The present paper approaches some aspects related to risk perception and identifies some behavioral patterns when dealing with flooding risk. The paper’s results could support public administration in the elaboration of natural disasters information plans, funds allocation in post-disaster interventions or public health policies.
