Summary/Abstract: The issue of transplantation, along with a number of others concerning bio-medicine and bioethics, is the subject of wide social interest. It is particularly important for a patient in a borderline clinical situation. A procedure of this type profoundly involves both the recipient and the donor, as the fundamental personal interests come into consideration, i.e., human life and health. The issues concerned with collecting and transplanting tissues and organs may be discussed from a whole variety of viewpoints: medical, legal, economical, psychological and ethical. Should this issue be reviewed also from a religious perspective? A two-fold approach is suggested. Firstly: do the religious context of human life and the transplantation issues have anything in common? Secondly: is the transplantation issue of concern to respective religions and denominations? The article focuses on the latter point.
