Summary/Abstract: Is Yoko Ono an artist? I don’t know why “the Yoko Ono phenomenon” exists. I guess, that it is based on sociological ideas of the 20th century. Richard Kostelanetz wrote that Yoko Ono was ‘the best known widow among artists and the best known artist among widows’. At the end of the 1980’s, Ono visited Warsaw on her way to Moscow. She was a pacifist. She followed the idea of combining art with politics. I don’t believe it was a good combination. The exhibition of her work in New York documented her failure to become an artist.
