Summary/Abstract: The exhibitions entitled „Artistic Underground in Katowice after 1953“ documented historic trends in Upper Silesian art. It documented the influence of different cultures (Polish, Czech, Hungarian, Prussian, Saxon) on local Silesian artists. The basis of “Oneiron 3” (Andrzej Urbanowicz, Henryk Waniek, Mieczyslaw Litwinski) was an old alchemic text used by blacksmiths a few centuries ago. Urbanowicz, Waniek and Urszula Broll are interested in sacred elements in art. Reverend Pyka suggested that some artists become aggressive and were interested in artistic provocation (he spoke about Zygfryd Dudzik). I believe it is an important aspect of their work. Boll has been connected with Buddhism. Also, for a number of years, Urbanowicz and Waniek were interested in Buddhist religion.
