Summary/Abstract: The article is based on the presentation at the international conference, "Vilnius' theatrical culture in the period 1785-1914". It was aimed at a foreign audience and therefore contains more informational and less problematic material. Many facts about the work of Vilnius amateur theatre are not known to the broader audience, so it was necessary to repeat the facts that have already been published (only in Lithuanian). We are mostly interested in the situation of the minority at the turn of the 20th century – Vilnius Lithuanians, who did not have their own statehood but lived and worked in Vilnius, which in their consciousness functioned as the capital. The formation of theatre foundations in the multicultural city of Vilnius and on its cultural stage, in the Polish and Russian environments, remains an object of further investigation.
