Summary/Abstract: The article presents material from scenic interpretations of Polish dramaturgy in Lithuanian theatre, especially noting the following productions: T. Karpowicz's "The Green Gloves", S. Mrožek's "Tango", and A. Mickiewicz’s "Dziady". All of these plays, in their own ways, reflected the period of time in which they were performed. The first two Polish plays were born in the Soviet-occupied Lithuanian theatre, so they inevitably suffered ideological pressure, certain deformations, and the dictate of soviet ideologists on staging. A. Mickiewicz's "Dziady" was born in Lithuanian theatre in the years of independence, and in many cases this fact contributed to the production's and its director's Jonas Vaitkus' loose, creative, and high artistic value. Links to the Polish romanticism's scenic tradition and J. Vaitkus' original interpretation of this brilliant play are examined, relating it to painful moments and tragic periods in Lithuanian history.
